Oh Boy. I toiled away and made L. a birthday cake to his EXACT specifications. The item above is: 3 layers of coconut cake, layered with a dark chocolate ganache monteé, iced with coconut icing and covered (sides, not top) with shredded coconut. At least the birthday boy knows what he wants. The candles and sugar sushi were my idea. Either way, while the cake looked better than I thought it would since I am "decorationally" challenged, it was not the most delicious cake that I have ever made. Sigh.
Still, a good time was had by all and my baby is officially 16.
