This Week's Menu

Every week L. and I go through the same routine. I ask him for input on the menu since he will be the one eating the results, he has no ideas, I put together a menu and make the dishes throughout the week, he complains about some of them, I get annoyed. We partially remedied this by assigning a day where he has total input and must make a decision. Hello Wednesday.

Yesterday I asked him if there was something in particular he wanted to eat this week and he responded laconically with "fish". I mentioned that i had nearly finished with the menu and that we were already having fish twice to which he responded "more fish".

Last week I lovingly bought sorrel for my mother who has recently been bringing up "the salmon with sorrel that she had in France many years ago and how she wanted to make it but sorrel is ridiculously expensive so she won't". A few days ago I announced that I would bring her the first crop as soon as it was ready so that she could finally make this, only to be told "why don't you put it on your menu, you make it and I will come and eat it for you."

So folks, this week is my week of "fish for family".
