Halloween Cocktail

After a day out and about doing errands and helping out a friend, I was slightly tacky Halloween-ed out. I wanted a cocktail that had a Halloween flair but no bats, brooms, skulls or loud noises. I happened to have rosemary in the fridge, thought of "rosemary for remembrance", which seemed appropriate for Halloween and went with a Rosemary Old Fashioned as my celebratory cocktail.

Boring to some, a classic to others...with rosemary as a twist on the original.

1 sugar cube

10 drops of orange bitters

2 sprigs of rosemary

1 generous measure of Bourbon

Ice

Muddle the sugar, bitters and one sprig of the rosemary together in the bottom of a shaker until the sugar has melted and the smell of rosemary intensifies.

Add ice to both the shaker and a Old Fashioned glass.

Add the Bourbon to the shaker and quickly shake to combine the Bourbon with the rosemary sugar bitters.

Strain into the ice filled glass and, even though it is customary to garnish an Old Fashioned with an orange twist, garnish it with the remaining rosemary sprig. You could even pretend it was a witch's broom if you wanted to.

Boo!
