L.'s Black Truffle Philly Cheese Steak

L. had had a bee in his bonnet about Philly cheese steaks for a while. Last year he requested that we make one for dinner but, since we had very different ideas of how to go about it, the dinner plans degenerated into a slight argument and one of the most disgusting sandwiches ever made. Since L. has a memory like a steel trap, he recently brought this up again and said that he would attempt this sandwich again but without my intervention.

Well, it has to be said that the little darling did an excellent job - gorgeous crisp baguette, thinly sliced wagyu beef, melted, gooey truffle brie and tart pickled beans from the farmers' market. My only quibbles were that I would have toasted the bread and that I greedily wanted more.
