Not much to talk about this week. First winter menu though, and good to know that the days will now start getting longer.
We had a lovely Christmas, are giving ourselves the weekend off, and then the rest of L.’s winter holiday will be devoted to college applications and the ensuing emotions on both our part - me because my baby is all grown up, and he because he has to complete them all and send them out into the unknown.
At least we have a nice New Year’s Eve dinner to look forward to and I have finally found one good thing about lockdown – this year I do not have to come up with a single excuse to skip any New Year’s Eve party – my least favorite social event of the year!!
I wish you and yours a safe and better in every way 2021. I think that each and every one of us is thrilled to turn the page on 2020.
This Week's CSA box contained:
Herbs: sage
Greens: a bunch of curly kale, 2 bunches of dandelion greens
Alliums: a head of garlic, shallots, yellow onions
Vegetables: a butternut squash, 2 turnips. 3 carrots, 2 parsnips, the largest rutabaga man has ever seen, a red cabbage, 1 greenhouse tomato, a punnet of Brussels sprouts, a celeriac, and 4 huge Russet potatoes
Fruit: Mutzu and Fuji apples – 4 each
Remainders: some asparagus, ¾ of a red cabbage, ½ bunch scallions, ½ head of lettuce, ½ bunch of rosemary, and a hand full of baby arugula
