Weiss Wurst with Warm Purple Potato Salad...

...AKA what your son decided he wants for dinner after seeing the sausages at a specialty store on Sunday instead of the squid he originally wanted for dinner and for which you have already shopped.

You either like weiss wurst or you don't - I know some people have textural issues with it - but the potato salad is a winner AND this dinner was 7 minutes from start to finish, once the pot of water had boiled. If you keep baby potatoes in your larder and sausage in your fridge, this is a really easy and yummy dinner for evenings when you are either exhausted after work or don't feel inspired to cook. Use purple potatoes and mix a little honey with some grain mustard as a topping for the sausage and this will elevate the meal.

4-8 weiss wurst, depending on people's appetite

1 lb small potatoes

1/4 cup chopped spring onion

1/3 cup chopped sorrel (stem removed first)

1 Tbsp capers

2 Tbsps olive oil

1 Tbsp red wine vinegar

Salt and white pepper to taste

Boil a pot of water, throw in the weiss wurst and the potatoes which you have quartered. After 6 minutes, fork test the potatoes which should be ready. Drain potatoes and sausage.

While the sausages and potatoes are cooking, mix all other ingredients together in a bowl.

As soon as the potatoes are drained, add them to the items in the bowl and toss immediately so that the sauce can be absorbed by the still hot potatoes.

That, my friends, is pretty much it.
